WINNER
OF PUB OF THE
YEAR BY HAVEN LIFE MAGAZINE!

T he
former Sheffield Arms was transformed when Flora
Papanicolaou took it over four years ago and changed the
name to The Harbourside Inn.
Now it is a
friendly pub with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Flora
praises her great team of staff and their efforts have
won the pub the Lewes District Council Clean Catering
Award for 2007/8.
Home-cooked
meals are served daily and every Sunday there is a great
value roast for just £5.95. The Harbourside is famous
for its Greek dishes cooked to her mother Anastasia’s
recipes, namely Moussaka served with Greek salad and
Lamb Kleftico (slow cooked lamb with herbs).
The function room is ideal for weddings, birthdays,
christenings and conferences, with the added bonus of
accommodation
on site.
The large beer
garden is being re-planted this year and being entered
in Newhaven in Bloom. But The Harbourside is used to
winning prizes, for two years it was the Haven Life Pub
of the Year, an unbeaten record!

There is regular
entertainment
at weekends and since Flora took over she has held
several local charity events raising monies for Newhaven
Lifeboat, Searchlight Workshops, Crossover, Newhaven and
Seaford Sea Cadets and Meeching Amateur Dramatics, to
name just a few.
The pub also
supports Newhaven Girls football club and recently
sponsored the Pink Panther T-shirts. Flora is full of
admiration for Denise and Andy Lloyd who run the club.
From May the
bar will be open every Saturday till 1am with piano and
jazz musicians playing soft background music and the
Harbourside will be introducing a new late night menu.
